Born in Leme, in the interior of São Paulo, Edenilson Silva, popularly known as Edy Silva, entered the universe of social networks in an unpretentious way, recording videos as a hobby. What he didn't imagine was that his life would change completely after one of his publications went viral on TikTok. Without even opening his mouth, Edy collects thousands of fans across the country with his striking expressions and mockery, which are his trademarks in the videos.

“I started on TikTok very early on, when it launched. At the time, I wasn't very good at editing. I started recording video with dubbing, went through content with makeup, dancing and, finally, I got to the videos of debauchery. The debauchery, which everyone tends to identify with a lot, started in a video in which I responded to a comment on one of my makeup videos, in which a man wrote 'bay tola', calling me a baitola. I made the video making fun of his comment, just with the look and expressions of mockery, and people identified themselves and started asking for more”, recalls the influencer.

It was then that he decided to expand his content production by focusing on this line of mocking videos. “It was there that everyone started asking for more videos like that one, and so I had the idea of creating characters to be able to come up with more content similar to that one”, says Edy.

But it was at the beginning of 2021 that Edy went viral worldwide with a video in which he appears finishing his hair and, subsequently, making a mocking face. “This video went viral more abroad than here in Brazil, I think it's because I didn't say anything and just had that expressive look that won over the crowd. It was with this video that I entered the Video of the Year category at the TikTok Awards, hitting 120 million views. I didn't win, but participating was worth it, because of all the professional recognition I had, "she says.

Currently with more than 10 million followers on the platform, a mixture of Brazilians and foreigners, Edy Silva accumulates stratospheric numbers in the views of his videos. Only in the publication that yielded the nomination for the TikTok Awards, he adds another 162 million views and another 13 million likes. However, a more recent video has already surpassed that mark and has more than 251 million views and 12 million likes.

In the same line of content as Edy, in which he is successful without saying anything at all, is the biggest tiktoker in the world, Khabane Lame, who collects more than 150 million followers on the platform. The Senegalese has gone viral all over the world with his expressive videos that convey different messages that his audience identifies with on a daily basis, but without having to open his mouth to say a single word. The Brazilian tiktoker is even constantly confused by Brazilians, who believe he is a gringo influencer. The confusion is precisely due to the fact that Edy does not say anything in his videos.
